Elizabeth
Community Fair
celebrates its 90th Anniversary
On opening night, Thursday,
July 15, there will be unlimited carnival rides from 4-10 p.m., as
well as a teen dance at the
fairgrounds.
As the
fair keeps rolling on Friday, July 16,
more events are planned, including the steer weigh-in, dairy and
sheep judging, as well and crafts and gardening judging in the
exhibit hall. Friday
night will bring the fantasy truck pull. Weigh in for the truck pull
will be at 5 p.m. with the pull beginning at 7 p.m. with music to
follow at the beer tent.
Saturday, July 17, brings
about one of the highlights of the weekend with the
Elizabeth Lions Club parade through
downtown. After the parade the first 500 in the gate at the
fair will receive a free lunch prepared
by the beef association and sponsored by the
Elizabeth Banking Center. The Stateline
Playboys Band will play during lunch. The kiddie tractor pull
will be held on the upper ball diamond in the afternoon, and there
will be a bean bag tournament. Immediately following the kiddie
tractor pull will be the hand milking contest featuring local
favorites showing off their skills. At 6 p.m. Saturday is the
stock truck and tractor pull followed by more music to dance to in
the beer tent.
Sunday morning will start with the horse show followed by the Carp
Allen Memorial Horseshoe Tournament. At noon, teams will hit the
sand for the sand volleyball tournament. In the afternoon, there
will be old time
fair games and a fire truck team pull. From 3-7
p.m. Sunday will be unlimited rides. The
fair will come to a close with
entertainment by award-winning hypnotist Jim Wand with fireworks to
follow.
